The results are in! According to Rightmove’s Happy at Home 2018 index, the stunning coastal town of Leigh-on-Sea is officially the happiest place to live in Great Britain.
Leigh-on-Sea is no stranger to the Happy at Home index either; also scoring 1st place in 2016 before moving down to 2nd in 2017. The town beat Farnham, Monmouth, Christchurch, Leamington Spa and 213 other towns, cities and villages in Great Britain to the top spot – an incredible achievement!
This year, more than 21,000 people across the country took part in the survey, ranking various ‘happiness factors’, including friendliness of the local community, the services available, the cultural vibe of the area and how safe residents feel living there.
With these factors in mind, it’s no surprise that Leigh always dominates the survey. A gem along the Essex coastline, the town boasts a strong community spirit, an array of trendy boutiques and eateries (including The Boatyard, which is currently up for sale with Ayers & Cruiks!), a thriving arts and culture scene, along with beautiful open spaces that are perfect for a summer’s stroll or a long dog walk.
